Solution
They eventually selected Versinetic’s LinkRay EV charger load balancer, because it is brand agnostic and could work entirely off-line.
Initially, LinkRay was installed in a cabinet with its own meter, independent of the main revenue meter. However later, following a software update, they were able to connect the LinkRay directly to the EDMI Mk 10D revenue meter that was already installed on-site.

At present there is the Kempower DC charger and 2 AC chargers with the following 18 chargers being installed in 2025.
Whilst the LinkRay is currently used independently of a cloud-based charge station management system (CSMS), Plus ES have the option to add it to a CSMS to allow authorisations in the future.

Impact
The implementation of LinkRay has provided several benefits to Plus ES:
- Enabled the installation of multiple EV chargers within the site’s power constraints without requiring expensive grid upgrades.
- Provided a flexible solution that can accommodate future charger additions, supporting up to 100 charge points in total.
- Improved ease of use with a user-friendly interface that’s easily accessible externally.
- Offered expandability for additional charge points, future-proofing the installation.
- Demonstrated adaptability through software updates, allowing for unusual requests such as direct connection to the revenue meter.
- Ensured compliance with site power limitations while maximising charging capacity.
- Provided a cost-effective alternative to grid upgrades, saving on infrastructure costs.
- Supported Plus ES in delivering a comprehensive EV charging solution for their client, Ausgrid, enhancing their service offering.
Feedback
“LinkRay is great – it’s easy to use, expandable and the customer support has been fantastic. The user interface is good navigate and easily accessible externally. I really like that it’s expandable for additional charge points in the future (up to 100 in total). With adding new meters, LinkRay was able to be updated to make it work even though this was an unusual request.”
